Overview

Quick Notes is a free app designed to enhance your Jira experience by allowing every user to store handy notes directly inside any work item. These notes act as personal context reminders, making it incredibly easy to pick up right where you left off when visiting the same work item multiple times or across different timeframes.

Key Features

Context Reminders

Leave a breadcrumb trail for yourself. Remember exactly what you were thinking when you last checked a specific Jira issue.

Smart Links

Any HTTPS links you type or paste are automatically converted into clickable link items for quick access.

Simple Management

Add, Edit, and Delete notes seamlessly right from the Jira issue view without navigating away.

100% Free

Quick Notes is completely free to install and use for all users in your Jira instance.

Privacy & Security Notice

Important: All notes are personal, but they are not private. Do not use this app to store sensitive data, passwords, or confidential personal information.

Notes are attached directly to the Jira work item itself—not to your personal Atlassian account. Anyone with sufficient access to view the underlying issue data or app data may be able to see them.

How It Works

Quick Notes is designed to be as lightweight and intuitive as possible. You will find the app interface located directly on your Jira issue view.

Adding a Note

  1. Open any Jira issue (Epic, Story, Bug, Task, etc.).
  2. Locate the Quick Notes panel on the issue view.
  3. Type your context reminder into the provided text area. Include any https://... URLs you want to reference.
  4. Click the Add Note button.

Managing Your Notes

Once a note is saved, it will appear directly below the text area. You have full control over the notes you create:

Troubleshooting

Where are my notes saved?
Notes are saved to the specific Jira work item (ticket) where you created them. If you can't find a note, ensure you are looking at the exact Jira issue where you originally left the note.
My links aren't clickable!
Ensure your links start with https://. The app specifically looks for the secure HTTPS protocol to convert text into clickable link items.
Can other users see my notes?
While the UI presents them as your personal context reminders, the data is stored as an entity on the Jira issue itself. Therefore, they are not strictly private, and you should avoid putting sensitive information in them.
Can I format the text with bold or lists?
To keep the app fast, simple, and free, Quick Notes uses plain text with the exception of automatic HTTPS link formatting. Complex formatting like Markdown or HTML is not supported for now.
